Max Laney- 'Honest' (independent 2001)
Recorded between September 2000 and May 2001, this was pretty much my first session experience. Max was a local girl who'd been singing the circuits for a while and doing sessions and what have you. She had worked with a number of song-writers over the previous couple of years and had a bunch of demos. She'd managed to secure private funding to make an album and had heard about me and asked me to do all the guitars. It was a good experience for me as, until then, I'd only really played my own music and it was also through working on Max's record that I met Lee Miller, Barry Shotton and Rob Williams, all of whom went on to work on my solo album the next year. The album goes from rock to pop and from country to motown - Max has diverse influences ranging from Stevie Nicks to Alanis Morissette - that didn't sound very diverse did it? Well she was into all sorts of other lady singers and stuff. This is definitely a rock album.
