"The Essential Collection" was a 'Best Of' type of thing, but featuring re-recorded versions rather than the originals. This was always going to be a hot potato because of peoples' familiarity with and affection for the original versions and the players who made them what they were. As I worked on the guitar parts in my home studio I had to make judgements along the way regarding which of the original arrangements to recreate, and where to write new parts. I was not happy with the way my guitars sounded in the final production.
