'Notes From The Incurable' is an alluring theatrical journey through tales of psychosis, warfare, murder, depression and triumph that doesn't take itself entirely seriously, not that the cursed and moribund characters we meet along the way are in on the joke. A work audacious enough to tackle the absurd alongside the poignant, with the lines blurred just enough to keep you guessing. Songs that hold a mirror to injustice and obscenity sit amongst the unabashedly lurid with beguiling results, served up with a modern guitar-heavy production style. Not for fans of the minimalist form, this outing peaks at points with an orchestral bluster, any less than which just wouldn’t have made the point in quite the same way! Rich layers of vocals make no apologies for themselves, while bowlfuls of guitars deliver both punky aggression and soulful beauty, without missing many points in-between, all for a grandiloquent result that could seem able only to repulse or delight its audience.
